The Council of the CAC wishes to offer each year, insofar as possible, financial assistance to encourage and support participation at the Annual conference for graduate students and those without a permanent academic position. Applicants will be reimbursed after they have attended the meetings. Applicants must provide the Treasurer with this application form and original hard copy receipts for travel (air, bus, train or cost of gas; maximum two nights hotel); no one will be reimbursed without original, hard copy receipts. Financial support will be in the range of $150.

Le Conseil de la SCEC offre chaque année, dans la mesure du possible, une assistance financière pour encourager et soutenir la participation au Congrès annuel des étudiant(e)s gradué(e)s et ceux qui ne détiennent pas de position permanente. Les remboursement sont effectués à la suite du Congrès. Les candidats au soutien financier doivent fournir à la trésorière de la Société le formulaire et les copies imprimées originales de leurs documents de voyage, transport et hébergement (par avion, autobus, train ou frais d'essence; maximum permis de 2 nuitées); aucun remboursement ne sera effectué sans la présentation des originaux des titres de transport. Le montant du remboursement sera environ $150.

FACULTY LECTURER REPLACEMENT POSITION / POSTE DE REMPLACEMENT – CHARGÉ(E) DE COURS

The Department of History and Classical Studies seeks applications to fill a non-tenure track, one-year position of Faculty Lecturer with teaching responsibilities in ancient history and Latin language. The teaching load is seven courses over three terms (Fall, Winter and Summer). Six courses are fixed: Fall term, HIST 205 Ancient Mediterranean History and HIST 368 Greek History: Classical Period; Winter term, HIST 375 Rome: Republic to Empire and CLAS 212 Introductory Latin 2; Summer term, CLAS 215 Intensive Introductory Latin (equivalent to two courses). The subject and title of the seventh course, to be taught in the Winter term, will be determined in consultation with the Chair of History and Classical Studies and the Director of Classics.

The one-year appointment commences September 1, 2019. Applicants should have a PhD in Classics or related discipline by the time of appointment. The salary is $50,000. Review of applications will begin on May 20, 2019. Le ou la candidat(e) retenu(e) enseignera un total de sept cours repartis sur trois sessions. AMERICAN SCHOOL OF CLASSICAL STUDIES AT ATHENS
HESPERIA FELLOW

From ASCSA Programs

The Publications Office of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) seeks a Hesperia Fellow to perform editorial work for Hesperia, the renowned scholarly journal of the ASCSA. Responsibilities include conducting bibliographic research, copyediting, proofreading, and liaising directly with authors, as well as any other relevant tasks as requested by the Editor of Hesperia.

Individuals actively enrolled in a graduate program and individuals with a Masters or Doctorate in the field of Classical archaeology or Classics (within two years of the date of their application) are eligible. Applicants will have excellent writing and communication skills, and a willingness to learn and follow the strict style requirements of the Journal. They will be well organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively under the pressure of publication deadlines. The ability to edit onscreen in an electronic workflow is required, as is the ability to have regular electronic contact with the Editor via email and video chat. Experience with Adobe desktop publishing software is preferred. Previous editorial or publishing experience is desired but not necessary.

The Hesperia Fellow reports directly to the Editor of Hesperia and will work remotely. The position follows the academic year and will be 15 hours per week over the fall and spring semesters, with a stipend of $6,000 per semester and a possible option to renew for a second academic year.

To apply, submit a cover letter, CV, a brief academic writing sample of no more than 10–15 pages, and the names of two individuals willing to serve as references. Applications for the position should be submitted via the online form.

The closing date for applications is May 15, 2019.

The position begins August 26, 2019.

PROJET DANUBIUS – DEUX CONTRATS POST-DOCTORAUX
DANUBIUS PROJECT – TWO POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

Le projet DANUBIUS propose deux contrats post-doctoraux, l'un dans le domaine de l'archéologie et des SIG, l'autre dans celui de la prosopographie et de l'épigraphie, débutant en octobre 2019. Ces contrats sont limités à 10 mois. Les chercheurs post-doctoraux auront pour fonctions principales de contribuer à l'alimentation des base de données du projet.
