Sessional Lecturer 2024-2025
The Department of Greek and Roman Studies invites applications to teach courses in Greek mythology, archaeology, and language. The Department is seeking sessional lecturers for the following three courses during the 2024-2025 academic year:
Fall 2024
GRS 200: “Greek and Roman Mythology”
GRS 358: “The Ancient City of Athens”
Spring 2025
Greek 202: “Introduction to Greek Literature”
The University Calendar provides descriptions for these courses. There is the possibility that these courses could be taught online. Applicants should hold a PhD, show potential for success as a university professor, and have demonstrable skill and enthusiasm in teaching a broad range of courses in Classical Studies. Applicants should indicate which of the three courses are of interest. Applicants should also indicate whether they are interested in online or in-person instruction.
Please send (by email) a letter expressing interest in these courses. Include evidence of teaching experience and innovative pedagogy, a complete CV, and a teaching reference to: Mark Nugent, Acting Chair, Department of Greek and Roman Studies (grschair@uvic.ca) before Monday, June 3, 2024. A decision will be made shortly thereafter. The University reserves the right to fill additional teaching assignments from the pool of applicants for this posting.
