The Department of Classics at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador invites applications for a 13-month Regular Term appointment to begin August 1, 2023, subject to budgetary approval. The area of research and teaching specialization is Roman society and culture. The successful applicant will teach 5 courses (3-2 teaching load), including courses on Roman Religion, Augustus and Rome, History of the Roman Republic, and Greek and Roman Medicine. The final assignment of courses will be determined by the requirements of the Department. Courses are to be taught in-person on the St. John’s campus.
Regular term appointments include research and administrative duties. The minimum qualification for regular term appointments is normally a completed or near-completed doctoral degree (or equivalent) in the discipline. A regular term appointee with an earned doctorate or generally accepted terminal professional qualification shall be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
