Bourse d’études ICEM-ICG

Grâce à un don généreux de l’Institut canadien d’études méditerranéennes (ICEM), l’Institut canadien en Grèce (ICG) est fier de pouvoir offrir la Bourse de voyage étudiante ICEM-ICG. La bourse vise à soutenir les étudiants du premier cycle des universités canadiennes qui veulent effectuer un voyage en Grèce. Le voyage pourrait être lié à leur participation à un projet archéologique, ou à un programme d’été, une session d’études à l’étranger, ou encore à toute autre activité académique qui nécessite la présence de l’étudiant en Grèce. Nous sommes particulièrement intéressés à offrir notre appui aux étudiants qui s’identifient comme membres de groupes historiquement sous-représentés.

Par conséquent, l’Institut lance un appel à candidatures pour la Bourse de voyage étudiante ICEM-ICG, pour un séjour au printemps ou à l’été 2023.

Le candidat doit être citoyen canadien ou immigrant reçu et inscrit dans un programme d’études de premier cycle. De plus, il doit justifier son séjour en Grèce pour des recherches sur le monde hellénique, de l’antiquité à l’époque moderne, dans la discipline de son choix.

Pour déposer votre dossier de candidature, veuillez contacter le professeur Angus Smith (rsmith@brocku.ca) avant le 1er mars 2023. Le dossier doit comprendre une justification de la nécessité de mener des recherches en Grèce, un curriculum vitae ainsi qu’un relevé de notes (non officiel). Veuillez demander à une personne qui connait votre parcours universitaire d’envoyer une lettre d’appui au professeur Smith.

Dans les trois mois qui suivront la fin de la période du séjour, le candidat devra envoyer, au président du comité des bourses de l’ICG, un court rapport décrivant le travail accompli.

Le bénéficiaire aura l’obligation, dans toute publication résultant des travaux de recherche menés grâce à cette bourse, de souligner le soutien de l’Institut canadien d’études méditerranéennes, de l’institut canadien en Grèce et de la bourse de voyage étudiante ICEM-ICG.

Une ou plusieurs bourses seront offertes chaque année jusqu’à concurrence de 1000 $ CAD (total des bourses).

CIMS-CIG Student Travel Bursary

Thanks to a generous donation from the Canadian Institute for Mediterranean Studies (CIMS), the Canadian Institute in Greece (CIG) is proud to be able to offer the CIMS-CIG Student Travel Bursary. The bursary aims to support undergraduate students based at a Canadian university who have reason to travel to Greece. Travel could be for the purpose of participating in an archaeological project, attending a summer program or study abroad experience, or participation in some other academic activity that requires the student to be in Greece. We are particularly interested in supporting students who identify as members of historically underrepresented groups.

The Institute therefore invites applications for the CIMS-CIG Student Travel Bursary to be held during the spring or summer of 2023.

The applicant must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant, pursuing undergraduate studies, and have a clear need to travel in Greece for purposes of research in any field of Hellenic studies, ancient to modern. To apply, write to Dr. Angus Smith (rsmith@brocku.ca) by 1 March 2023, including a cover letter that describes your rationale for traveling to Greece, a curriculum vitae, and an unofficial transcript. Please arrange for a referee familiar with your academic background to send a letter of support for your application to Dr. Smith.

Within three months of the end of the travel period, a brief report must be sent by the bursary recipient to the Chair of the CIG Fellowships Committee describing the work that was accomplished.

In any subsequent publication of the research work done under the auspices of this bursary, the recipient shall acknowledge the Canadian Institute for Mediterranean Studies, the Canadian Institute in Greece, and the CIMS-CIG Student Travel Bursary.

One or more bursaries will be offered each year, amounting to a total of CAD $1,000.
