CIG_announcement_Summer Program Instructors 2025

The Canadian Institute in Greece (CIG) invites applications for instructors to lead the English-language groups of the Institute’s Summer Programs, which will run from mid-May to early June 2025.

The applicant must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant. We are seeking applications from scholars at all career levels but especially encourage applications from early-career scholars, including advanced PhD students and young professors or contract faculty who have recently completed their PhD.

The CIG is running two English-language Summer Programs in 2025.

  • Itinerary 1: Attica the Peloponnese, May 18 – June 7, 2025
  • Itinerary 2: Cycladic Islands and Crete, May 18 – June 6, 2025

In your application, please indicate for which Instructor position you are applying, and if you want to be considered for both positions.

Responsibilities of the Instructor for both Summer Program itineraries include:

  • Overseeing the daily activities of the students participating in the Summer Program.
  • Giving courses at the Institute and providing educational tours of archaeological sites and museums.
  • Co-ordinating with the Director and Assistant Director of the CIG on the successful implementation of the Program itinerary.
  • Corresponding with participants concerning preparation for the program.
  • Submitting a final report to the Director of the CIG after the completion of the program.

The successful applicants will each receive a stipend of CAD $10,000 and round-trip airfare to Greece. Depending on the size of the group, there could also be an assistant to help with site and museum visits.

To apply, write to Dr. Scott Gallimore, Chair of the CIG’s Personnel Committee at personnel@cig-icg.gr by 31 January 2025, including a curriculum vitae and a cover letter stating your qualifications and interest in this position, and two letters of reference in support of your application.

The Canadian Institute in Greece is committed to providing equal opportunities and does not discriminate based on age, colour, disability, gender identity or expression, genetic information, national or ethnic origin, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation in any aspect of its membership or employment processes.
