Online Introductory Latin and Introductory Ancient Greek classes at Dalhousie University this Spring (May-June 2023)

Looking to get an early start this summer on Latin or Ancient Greek? This Spring term, Dalhousie Classics is offering online classes in Introductory Greek (CLAS 2505 and 2506) and Latin (CLAS 2401 and 2402). The first Spring term runs from May 8-30, and the second spring term runs from June 1-23, though the first and second half of the classes should be taken together. Both classes are synchronous and able to be as fully online, though the Latin class may also be taken in-person for students in the Halifax area.

These classes will prepare students to take second-year Latin or Greek classes and should be transferable to other Universities, though students should consult with their home departments to confirm that this will be possible.

The classes have been scheduled later in the day to accommodate students in all the Canadian time zones. Introductory Latin meets from 1:00-4:00pm Monday-Thursday, while Introductory Greek meets from 11:00-2:00 Monday-Thursday.

The Latin class will be using Shelmerdine’s Introduction to Latin (2nd ed.), while the Greek class will be using Athenaze.

Registration for both classes opens on February 27th, 2023.

If you have any questions about either class, please feel free to contact Dalhousie Classics at classics@dal.ca.
