Assistant Professor, Tenure Track: Latin Prose and Roman History

The Department of Classics at McMaster University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor, beginning July 1, 2023. We welcome applicants with a specialty in Latin prose and Roman history, from the Republic to the High Empire. We are especially interested in applicants with research interests in civic culture, political thought, law, historiography, rhetoric or science. We welcome applicants who address issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion in their research and/or their teaching. The successful applicant will have a completed PhD before taking up the position and show a strong research trajectory, as demonstrated by the sharing of their research in venues appropriate to their career stage and by their plans for future research. The teaching load is 3:2, with course relief available for graduate supervision; a typical year would include teaching Latin and Greek from beginner to graduate level as well as classes in translation.

 Vaccination Policy Statement
