Our condolences to the family and friends of Hugh Parry, who was Professor in the Programme in Classical Studies and the Division of Humanities at York University until his retirement in 1996. Hugh died in Victoria, BC, on 30 March 2022, at the age of 87. He was an authority on Greek literature and magic, and played a foundational role in establishing Greek and Latin language instruction and the degree programme in Classical Studies at York. Hugh also held significant leadership positions at the University during its early decades. He is remembered as a receptive and supportive colleague, with a warm smile and gentle demeanour.
