NOUVELLE COLLECTION DES
SUPPLÉMENTS FRANCOPHONES DE LA REVUE PHOENIX

À l'instar de la série anglophone, les volumes de cette nouvelle collection constitueront un complément aux travaux paraissant régulièrement dans le périodique Phoenix de la Société canadienne des études classiques. Ils visent à promouvoir l'étude des civilisations des mondes grec et romain, de leur héritage et de leur influence dans les civilisations actuelles.
Riches d'une longue tradition, le premier volume est paru en 1952, les suppléments de Phoenix comptent désormais une série exclusivement francophone consacrée tant aux monographies qu'aux ouvrages collectifs thématiques (mélanges, ateliers, colloques, etc.). Les études soumises pourront porter sur la littérature, les langues, l'histoire, la philosophie, la religion, la mythologie, les sciences, l'archéologie, l'histoire de l'art, l'architecture, ainsi que sur les civilisations grecque et romaine dans la plus large acception.
Par la création de cette nouvelle série, la Société canadienne des études classiques (Classical Association of Canada) veut rester fidèle à sa vocation et encourager les études classiques au Canada dans le respect du bilinguisme national.

PROFESSOR IN ANCIENT PHILOSOPHY

The Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Chancellor Jackman Professorship in the Arts, at the rank of Full Professor. This tenured appointment will be situated in the Department of Classics and is effective July 1, 2017.
We seek a candidate who is an internationally established scholar in the field of Ancient Philosophy. S/he must have demonstrated excellence in both research and teaching and a clear commitment to ongoing development in both teaching and research. The successful candidate's research will be in the area of Greek and Latin Philosophy, with particular emphasis on the following areas: post-Aristotelian, Hellenistic, Imperial, and Late Ancient Philosophy including Augustine. The candidate will also be expected to conduct innovative research at the highest international level. Strong evidence of excellence in research is required, as demonstrated by publications in leading journals and leading presses relevant to the field, presentations at significant conferences, and strong endorsements by referees of international eminence. The successful candidate will teach a wide range of courses in the department from the introductory to advanced levels, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; this includes the ability to teach in the program of Classical languages at all levels. It is also expected that the successful candidate will take on a leadership role in the Collaborative Program for Ancient and Medieval Philosophy. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by letters of reference, teaching evaluations, and dossier and/or syllabi submitted as part of the application.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Assistant Professor without Review in Latin Language and Literature

The Department of Classical, Near Eastern and Religious Studies (CNERS) at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) invites applications for an Assistant Professor without review in Latin language and literature. The successful candidate must be able to teach Latin at all levels, and courses on topics such as Latin literature, myth, ancient women, classical reception, classics in the media, and/or another area of specialization. The 1-year appointment is expected to commence September 1, 2016, with the possibility of reappointment for an additional year. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. Reappointment will be subject to excellent performance and availability of funds.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D., provide evidence of teaching effectiveness, and have demonstrated accomplishments in scholarship, as well as an enthusiasm for teaching in a department with the unique combination of fields present in CNERS. S/he will be expected to maintain an active program of research, graduate and undergraduate teaching (12 credits = four 3-credit courses), and participate fully in graduate supervision, departmental service and events. McMaster University warmly invites the submission of proposals in either French or English for individual papers and poster presentations for the Third Canadian Colloquium for Ancient Philosophy. We invite submissions in all areas of Ancient Philosophy, and we welcome submissions from graduate and postgraduate students.

For individual papers (with a presentation time of up to 25 minutes), please submit a paper of around 2,500 words. For poster presentations, please submit an abstract (including a title) of about 300–500 words.
Papers and abstracts should be prepared for blind review. In an email message to which your proposal is attached please include your name, academic affiliation and postal address.
Papers and abstracts must be received by 6 June 2016 to be considered for the colloquium. The selection panel will notify those who submitted of its decision by the end of June. Please email your submissions (in .rtf, .doc, .pdf format) to ccap.ccpa.2016@gmail.com.
Submission guidelines
Individual papers
Please send papers of around 2,500 words with their title to ccap.ccpa.2016@gmail.com by 6 June 2016. In the email to which your paper is attached, please include your name, institutional affiliation and preferred postal address. You will be notified by the end of June of the status of your proposal. Successful candidates will be allotted a 50-minute time slot, comprising a 25-minute presentation, and 25 minutes for questions and discussion. Presentations can be summaries of longer papers, and papers will be distributed in advance.
Poster presentations
Posters provide an opportunity to present and discuss your work (research project, PhD topic) during the poster session and at other times during the conference, and they allow authors and participants to connect and engage in discussion about the presented work. There will be two scheduled sessions during which presenters will be expected to stand by their posters and discuss their work. Posters should be 24 inches (60 centimeters) high by 36 inches (90 centimeters) wide.
Although the presentation will be in the form of a poster, the submission itself should be in the form of an abstract describing the work. Please send your abstract (300-500 words, include a title) to ccap.ccpa.2016@gmail.com by 6 June 2016. In an email to which your proposal is attached please include your name, institutional affiliation and preferred postal address. Please also indicate whether you would like to serve as a commentator if your proposal is not accepted. You will be notified by the end of June of the status of your proposal.

Les présentations affichées offrent l’occasion de faire connaître et de discuter votre recherche durant la session des exposés et à d’autres moments durant le colloque. Ces présentations permettent de créer des liens entre les auteurs et les autres participants, et elles constituent des points de départ pour la discussion sur leurs recherches respectives. Durant le colloque, il y aura deux périodes réservées aux présentations affichées. Les dimensions matérielles des présentations affichées devraient être d’environ 60 cm de hauteur par 90 cm de largeur.
Même si ces présentations seront affichées, votre soumission doit être envoyée sous forme de court résumé décrivant votre thématique de recherche. Veuillez s’il vous plait envoyer votre résumé de 300 à 500 mots au ccap.ccpa.2016@gmail.com au plus tard le 6 juin 2016.
