GRADUATE STUDENT PRESENTATION PRIZE 2014
PRIX POUR LA MEILLEURE COMMUNICATION ÉTUDIANTE 2014
From Bonnie MacLachlan
In 2010 the CAC instituted a prize of $100 for the best paper presented at the annual meetings by a graduate student.
This year at the meeting in Montreal there were four finalists: Adriana Brook (University of Toronto), Germain Payen (Université Laval), Jessica Romney (University of Bristol) and Matthew Watton (Western University). Graduate students who elected to compete submitted their papers in advance of the conference, and members of the CAC Awards Committee adjudicated both the content and the presentation of the papers.
This year's winner was Adriana Brook, whose paper was entitled "Ritual Structure, Narrative Structure: The Poetics of Progression in Sophocles' Ajax".

~ I ~
At the bottom of this issue you will find a few pictures from the AGM, graciously provided by Hans Beck.
Il y aura d'autres nouvelles du congrès dans le prochain numéro régulier du BCÉA, une fois que le site web aura été mis à jour.
~ II ~
It is an important duty of the CAC to pay homage to deceased colleagues. I would therefore appreciate if you informed me of the passing of any (former) colleague as soon as possible. Links to obituaries are also welcome, as well as any supplementary information about his/her accomplishments as a teacher and scholar (since such information is usually missing from general obituaries). I have had to supplement several obituaries in the past four years, and even wrote one from scratches, which can be quite time consuming in the case of scholars I knew little or not at all.
I thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
~ III ~
I'll be out of the country by June 15th, when the next regular issue should normally be posted. Please send me your announcements by the 9th at the very latest; I'll produce an early issue on June 9th or 10th.
