IN MEMORIAM ROSS STUART KILPATRICK
KILPATRICK, Ross Stuart - October 3, 1934–February 24, 2012 - Professor Emeritus, Queen's University, Department of Classics (42 years) BA, MA (Toronto), PhD (Yale). Peacefully, due to complications of viral cardiomyopathy, at the Kingston General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ross Kilpatrick, beloved husband and best friend of Suzanne Jane (nee Mitchell), for 51 years. Dear father of Dr. Katherine Kilpatrick (Rick) of Kingston, Rosemary Kilpatrick (Bruce) and Andrea Kilpatrick (Dayna), all of Toronto. Ross is survived by his sister Donna Black and predeceased by his brother John. Ross's life was dedicated to his family, his teaching and his faith, and he was active in all of these until his last few days. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many kind and caring staff at KGH, particularly in the Emergency Department, Cardiology and Neurology, who touched Ross's life in his final days. Resting at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Wednesday, February 29, 2012 to the Cathedral Church of St. George (corner of King and Johnson Streets) for service at 2:00 pm, The Very Reverend Mary Irwin-Gibson officiating. Interment Cataraqui Cemetery. Duties and responsibilities:
• Research in Greek and the publication of research findings.
• Teaching and learning under- and postgraduate students in Classical and Hellenistic Greek.
• Involve in promoting the Classics in the community.
• Responsible for administrative tasks.
Inherent requirements:
• PhD degree in Greek.
• Proven record of international publication.
• Proven experience in lecturing in Classical and/or Hellenistic Greek.
• Proven ability to successfully supervise under- and postgraduate students.
• Ability to function as a team member within a research team.
Recommendation:
• Knowledge of Latin, classical mythology and ancient civilizations.
• Knowledge and experience in Bible translation and/or the Septuagint.
• Academic language competency in Afrikaans and English.
Assumption of duties: 01 June 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.
