8-Month Teaching Term Appointment

The Department of Classics, Memorial University of Newfoundland, invites applications for an 8-month teaching term appointment to begin September 1, 2010. The successful applicant will have a PhD in hand or near completion and will be expected to teach six courses (three per semester), including courses in Latin and classical civilization.

Letters of application should reach the Head by April 16th, 2010 and should be accompanied by a current curriculum vitae, a teaching dossier or comparable evidence of teaching experience, and the names and contact information of three people who can supply a letter of reference. Applicants must provide evidence of excellence in teaching.

SESSIONAL TEACHING AVAILABLE, 2010-2011

Subject to funding, the Department of Greek and Roman Studies has sessional teaching available in the following courses for 2010-2011:

Fall 2010

GRS 200 Greek and Roman Mythology

LATI 101 Introductory Latin I

LATI 101 Introductory Latin I

The Department solicits expressions of interest from individuals qualified to teach these courses. Preference will be given to instructors who already have experience teaching the courses. Please send (by e-mail) expressions of interest which include a current CV and an indication of previous experience, to Cedric A.J. Littlewood, Chair, Department of Greek and Roman Studies, calwood@uvic.ca, by April 30, 2010. A decision should be made within 10 days.

These appointments are within CUPE, local 4163 (component 3), Sessional Lecturers certification.
