ANCIENT HISTORY & CLASSICS
The Department of Ancient History and Classics at Trent University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Greek History, effective July 1, 2007 (subject to budgetary approval). The successful applicant should also be able to teach Greek and Latin at all levels of the curriculum. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand and be able to demonstrate effective records of teaching success and research achievement or promise.
The Department of Ancient History & Classics offers degree programs in Ancient Greek & Roman Studies and in Greek & Latin Language & Literature and is involved in the Trent/Queen’s Graduate Program. Call for Papers
Anger as a primal emotion appears in many facets of Classical culture. We see it reflected in a variety of texts, fiction and nonfiction, poetry and prose, as well as in art and architecture. From a study of Achilles' rage to Dido's fury and beyond, we can discover much about the ancient world and about ourselves.
We invite graduate students to submit papers to examine diverse aspects of anger in the ancient world. Topics may be drawn from, but are not limited to: literary criticism, ancient philosophy, gender studies, Greek and Latin linguistics, ritual, religion, art and archeology.

The Classics Department at Brock University welcomes applications for its MA programme, which will be entering its second year in the Fall of 2007. The Master of Arts in Classics emphasizes a holistic approach to the Greek and Roman worlds and encourages all students to study languages, literature, history, and material culture. The study of Greek and Latin is at the heart of the program in order to ensure students can access the wealth of literary and documentary sources that have survived and continue to surface. The program also assigns prominence to historical context and material culture, especially promoting active archaeological research and travel to the Mediterranean. The program is structured on the principle that these diverse approaches inform one another and produce a cross-disciplinary, well-rounded and thus broader understanding of the world and legacy of the Greeks and Romans.
Applications for admission to the MA program will be accepted from students holding a BA, Honours, or equivalent degree in Classics, with a minimum overall average of B (second class), a minimum average of 75% in Classics courses and with at least two years in Greek and two years in Latin at the university level. Applicants must supply three letters of reference, a personal statement of interest and goals of not more than two pages in length, a representative piece of written work of not more than 20 pages and transcripts of all post-secondary course-work.
