We wish to announce a seminar and conference on ancient world mapping to be held at the University of Saskatchewan on September 21-22, 2001.  The featured speaker at the conference will be Professor Richard J. A. Talbert, editor of the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World.  The conference will include two lectures by Professor Talbert, as well as others who will deliver papers pertaining to cartography in the 21st century.  Details of the conference can be found at

UNB Colloquium on Ancient Art
Call for Papers

The Department of Classics & Ancient History, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, New Brunswick, invites the submission of abstracts for papers to be presented at the UNB Colloquium on Ancient Art, 22-23 March 2002.  The Keynote Address will be delivered by Dr Margaret Miller, Department of Fine Art, University of Toronto.  We invite papers on all aspects of Greek and Roman art, including public and domestic representation in any medium.  We especially encourage papers treating iconographical and iconological interpretations.  Papers should be 20-30 minutes in length.  Abstracts should reach the committee by 15 October 2001, and should be sent to Dr William Kerr <wkerr@unb.ca> or to Dr John Geyssen  <jgeyssen@unb.ca>, or the following address: Department of Classics and Ancient History, University of New Brunswick, Box 4400, Fredericton, NB, Canada E3B 5A3.
