CAC National Greek and Latin Sight Translation Competitions

The National sight examinations in Greek and Latin for Canadian students at both the university and high school level are held every January. The Senior Greek and Latin Competitions are open to undergraduates at Canadian institutions who have had 2 or more years of Greek or Latin. The Junior Greek and Latin Competitions are open to undergraduates at Canadian institutions at the second-year level in Greek or Latin. The Latin Competition for High School Students is open to senior high school students at Canadian institutions currently enrolled in Latin. Go →

Desmond Conacher Scholarship

This scholarship is offered in memory of Desmond Conacher, formerly Professor of Classics at Trinity College, Toronto, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and Honorary President of the Classical Association of Canada. Its purpose is to assist and encourage a young scholar entering graduate studies in classics. The scholarship is administered by the Classical Association of Canada through its Awards Committee. One award of $2,500 is offered each year. Go →

Grace Irwin Award for Classics

The Grace Irwin Award, worth $500, is designed to reward a secondary school teacher of Latin, Ancient Greek or Classical Civilization who is seeking to upgrade existing abilities by engaging in different types of activities such as an accredited training course or travel to see artefacts/exhibits. Graduate Student Presentation Prize

The Graduate Student Prize is awarded annually to the graduate student who delivers the best paper at the Association’s Annual Meeting. Winners: 2010: Michael Snowdon (McMaster)
